SUPERVISION FOR EDUCATION SAFEGUARDING STAFF

Who is supervision for?

This course for staff working in education safeguarding leadership roles such as DSLs and DDSLs

Supervision is a key part of ensuring that an educational establishment has an effective culture of safeguarding. It facilitates reflective practice and continuous improvement. Supervision provides both support and challenge to staff working with the most vulnerable children and families and is a key part of the jigsaw that ensures pupils are kept safe from harm. It is also a requirement of the Ofsted framework which states that “staff and other adults receive regular supervision and support if they are working directly and regularly with children and learners whose safety and welfare are at risk”. Finally child practice safeguarding reviews often highlight the absence, irregularity or quality of supervision as a cause for concern.
