Who is this course for?
Governors, senior leaders, admin staff and business managers who are involved in recruiting staff including those who sit on recruitment panels.
This course gives participants the information and understanding they need to recruit safely and comply with relevant statutory guidance. Participants gain the skills they need to ensure that safeguarding is at the heart of their recruitment process. This course is led by a trainer who has completed the Lucy Faithful Foundation ‘Train the trainer’ programme and is certified by the Safer Recruitment Consortium. All participants who achieve a pass in the end of course assessment will receive a Safer Recruitment Organisation certificate.

⦁ planning a safer recruitment process
⦁ making the right decisions: interview and selection
⦁ embedding and maintaining an ongoing culture of vigilance
⦁ safer recruitment in the context of safeguarding
⦁ the prevalence of abuse and profile of those who abuse
⦁ how adults who abuse operate within organisations

The course will enable staff and governors involved in the recruitment process to:
⦁ Give participants an awareness and understanding of offender behaviour
⦁ Identify the key features of staff recruitment that help deter or prevent the appointment of unsuitable people
⦁ Consider policies and practices that minimise opportunities for abuse or ensure its prompt reporting
⦁ Explore the elements that contribute to an ongoing culture of vigilance
⦁ Help participants begin to review their own and their organisation’s policies and practices with a view to making them safer
COST: £185 per person or £175 per person if 2 or more people from the same organisation are booked onto the course on the same date (includes refreshments and a small lunch)
