Head Teachers, Governors and the Senior Leadership Team
The Safeguarding audit will support accurate school self-evaluation and strengthen the leadership capacity of safeguarding within your school./college. It will support inspection readiness and identify priorities for improving safeguarding practice.
Includes:
⦁ A review of safeguarding documents available on the school/college website prior to visit
⦁ 4 hours in school analysing safeguarding policy and practice
⦁ A detailed report outlining strengths and areas for development
Activities can include but are not limited to:
⦁ A review of the effectiveness of safeguarding Information (on the school website)including the safeguarding policy
⦁ Activities such as pupil discussion groups, meeting the DSL and DDSL
⦁ Analysis and evaluation of the school safeguarding data
⦁ A discussion with governors
⦁ A review of how effectively safeguarding is recorded and safeguarding record keeping
⦁ An audit of the single central record
*Each school will have a bespoke set of activities for their audit agreed in a pre-audit telephone conversation*
The audit will enable school staff, leaders and governors/trustees to:
⦁ Meet statutory requirements (including documentation)
⦁ Assist Ofsted readiness
⦁ Identify strengths and areas of development for further action
⦁ Be assured their single central record meets the statutory requirements set out in KCSIE
⦁ Have a clear overview of the schools safeguarding culture
