This course is for newly appointed DSLs and DDSLs or other staff who require a higher level of safeguarding knowledge for their role
Safeguarding training for a school designated safeguarding lead is crucial for protecting the wellbeing of students. It is a requirement of KCSIE that all schools have a trained DSL. As the appointed person responsible for safeguarding in a school, the designated safeguarding lead requires comprehensive training on identifying signs of abuse and neglect, handling disclosures, and following proper reporting procedures. The course will be engaging with lots of opportunities for discussion.
This training covers :
⦁ types of abuse such as physical, emotional, and sexual, as well as specific safeguarding issues like child sexual exploitation, female genital mutilation, and radicalization.
⦁ It provides guidance on monitoring and supporting students who are vulnerable or at risk, and on promoting a culture of vigilance across the school community.
⦁ Learn how to manage safeguarding concerns in line with local authority thresholds and procedures, including making an effective referral
⦁ Keeping detailed and confidential records
⦁ The importance of multi-agency working
⦁ The role of the DSL: how to take lead responsibility for safeguarding policies and procedures, to act as the school’s source of expertise.
⦁ Key safeguarding statutory guidance and emerging themes and issues.
⦁ Safeguarding during an Ofsted inspection

COST: £185 per delegate or £175 per delegate if 2 or more delegates from the same school are booked onto the course on the same day (light refreshments and a small lunch included)
