Who is this course for? DSLs and DDSLs who have previously completed a full DSL training course and need to refresh their skills in line with statutory requirements
Safeguarding training for a school designated safeguarding lead is crucial for protecting the wellbeing of students. It is a requirement of KCSIE that all schools have a trained DSL who receives regular update training. As the appointed person responsible for safeguarding in a school, the designated safeguarding lead requires comprehensive training on identifying signs of abuse and neglect, handling disclosures, and following proper reporting procedures. The course will be engaging and provide opportunities for discussion.
What does this training cover?
⦁ Updates on the latest statutory guidance
⦁ Updates from local safeguarding partnerships
⦁ Updates from Ofsted and safeguarding during an inspection
⦁ The relationship between attendance (including the responsibilities of the school when considering the use of part time timetables) and safeguarding
⦁ Identify emerging themes arising from and discussion of good practice in recently published serious case reviews (local SCRs will be used where relevant/possible)
Key outcomes:
By the end of this training delegates will:
⦁ Understand he key updates in local safeguarding arrangements, KCSIE and Working Together
⦁ Be equipped to safeguard the children that you work with by implementing improved procedures through lessons learned from serious case reviews
⦁ Understand how Ofsted inspects safeguarding in schools
⦁ Understand the importance of good attendance in keeping children safe, including the correct use of part time timetables and safeguarding in the suspension and exclusion process
COST: £125 per delegate or £115 per delegate if 2 or more delegates from the same school are booked onto the course on the same day (tea and coffee included)
